Automated Test Bench

Automated Test Bench

The automated test bench is a third-generation automation solution and the most flexible system configuration available. Its compact, clever design makes it easy to attach or remove additional equipment. With test automation, HIL simulation can be embedded deeply in the design process and regression tests triggered automatically by script — every software change is tested automatically to verify that the software still meets its specification, and software engineers can respond to changes immediately and correct faults at any time.

Key Features

Key Features

01External compartment design

An external compartment on the main unit makes it easy to swap ECUs frequently during testing.

02Universal interfaces

Universal interface design meets a wide range of automated testing needs.

03Open combination capability

It can be combined with ZD's own automation equipment or connected to other general-purpose industry devices.

04Busbar design

A busbar on the bench makes it easy to add or modify wiring during testing.

05Manual testing compatible

Supports a range of manual bench testing functions.

Applications

Applications

01REGRESSION TESTING

Script-driven automated regression

Scripted regression · CI integration / continuous validation

HIL simulation is embedded deeply in the design process: scripts trigger regression tests automatically and are wired into the software build, so every software change runs the HIL tests to confirm that the updated software still meets its specification, exposing and fixing problems on the spot.

  • Automatic triggering: Scripts trigger regression tests automatically and are part of the software build
  • Immediate response: Software engineers validate changes immediately and correct faults quickly
  • Resource scheduling: Works with the ZD Test Server for centralised scheduling of bench resources
The problem it solves: regression tests run manually, taking a long time with inconsistent coverage, so software changes are validated late.

02FLEXIBLE SETUP

Versatile equipment combinations

Flexible integration · Additional equipment / re-wiring

The bench uses universal interfaces and a busbar design, so additional equipment is easy to attach or remove and wiring can be added or changed at any time. It can be combined with ZD's own automation equipment or connected to general industry devices.

  • Quick swap: The external compartment design supports frequent ECU changes
  • Flexible Expansion:Universal interfaces connect ZD and industry-standard devices
  • Wiring Reconfiguration:Hub-board design simplifies wiring additions and modifications
Pain point addressed: Bench configurations are fixed, so any change in test requirements means rewiring or even rebuilding the setup.
