ZD DataGrabber TSN

Time-sensitive network monitoring · Visible without interfering

A high-performance Ethernet monitoring device for time-sensitive networking (TSN). Built-in PTP/gPTP time synchronization and 4 ns high-resolution hardware timestamps enable non-intrusive multi-channel active monitoring and forwarding. It supports Ethernet data injection and ASAM CMP integration, providing strong support for AVB/TSN performance measurement and the development of zonal E/E architectures.

Key Features

Key Features

01Designed for time sensitivity, with precise synchronization

Built-in time synchronization supports PTP and gPTP to give the test network the same time base as the vehicle system.

02High-resolution hardware timestamps

For high-precision testing and analysis: resolution up to 4 ns with timestamp accuracy better than 16 ns.

03Non-intrusive monitoring and forwarding

Monitors the vehicle's original Ethernet traffic without interfering, leaving vehicle real-time behaviour untouched — genuinely visible without disturbing.

04Ethernet data injection

Supports active injection and intervention testing on Ethernet streams for scenario reproduction and protocol validation.

05ASAM CMP compliance

ASAM CMP support lets it connect to third-party Datalogger devices and slot into an existing test environment.

Applications

Applications

01
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT

AVB/TSN performance measurement

AUDIO VIDEO BRIDGING / TIME-SENSITIVE NETWORKING

For end-to-end performance evaluation of Audio Video Bridging (AVB) and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) protocols.

  • Network latency baseline measurement: Evaluation of communication metrics such as latency and jitter between multiple nodes
  • PTP clock synchronization validation: Validates and analyses Precision Time Protocol (PTP) synchronization accuracy
Challenge: Latency and jitter in TSN traffic are hard to measure accurately without disturbing real traffic, and conventional tools change the network the moment they are connected.

02
VEHICLE TESTING

In-vehicle time-sensitive data flow testing

IN-VEHICLE TSN DATA STREAM TESTING

Monitor, forward and time-test mission-critical data flows in a real vehicle environment.

  • Non-intrusive monitoring: Monitors the vehicle's original Ethernet traffic without affecting vehicle real-time behaviour
  • Data injection: Supports active injection and intervention testing for scenario reproduction and protocol validation
Challenge: Timing problems in critical data flows are hard to reproduce in a real vehicle, which calls for a tool that can both observe and intervene.

03
ARCHITECTURE VALIDATION

Development and validation of zonal E/E architectures

ZONAL E/E ARCHITECTURE VALIDATION

Supports functional validation of next-generation distributed architectures in communication, time synchronization and performance.

  • Zonal architecture communication validation: Validates the reliability and timing of Ethernet communication between zone controllers
  • Standards integration: ASAM CMP support allows it to work with third-party Datalogger devices
Challenge: Validating time synchronization and communication performance in zonal E/E architectures lacks dedicated tools, and multi-vendor equipment is hard to combine.
