Automotive Ethernet is a point-to-point link, so integrating a data logger into a vehicle normally requires extensive harness modification; and if a test device fails, the Ethernet link breaks and vehicle functions are affected. ZD's own ZD SafeLink ETH uses a passive reset design to keep the vehicle's automotive Ethernet normally connected. When test equipment needs to be attached, the two ports of each Ethernet channel can be routed to the test-device side on demand. Working with the ZD Datalogger 3 series, it can actively reset the automotive Ethernet link to the original vehicle communication when the Datalogger diagnoses a system error.
Controls up to four automotive Ethernet links, each independent of the others.
Optional Rosenberger H-MTD automotive Ethernet connectors match mainstream automotive Ethernet ECU interfaces.
DIP switches select the connection mode and USB serial commands provide programmatic control, suiting both bench and in-vehicle environments.
LEDs show link status in real time, so that the connection state is clear at a glance.
Supports wired synchronization and emergency triggering of external devices.
Supports cascading multiple devices for multi-channel automotive Ethernet testing.
To connect a Datalogger to an ECU or gateway, the Datalogger's automotive Ethernet ports are first routed to the test-device side of the ZD SafeLink ETH (Logger Automotive Ports), and the ECU or gateway automotive Ethernet ports are connected to the vehicle-controller side (ECU Automotive Ports). Four automotive Ethernet channels can be connected at once: while the internal relays are closed, the Datalogger stays normally connected to the ECU and receives ECU communication data as a bypass device.
Two modes can restore the original Ethernet connection, depending on how the ZD SafeLink ETH is used: passive and active.
Eight H-MTD automotive Ethernet ports on each of the ECU side and Logger side (the transmit and receive ports of four channels). Panel markings clearly show port numbers and P/N pins, and the circular connector carries VBAT 8 V-24 V power and the Trigger pin.
